Save Callie's life — she needs your donation today!
Together we can make a difference in saving Callie!
Callie is the sweetest pizza-loving girl you’ll ever meet, but she's had it rough for a 3-year-old dog.
While driving to the El Faro de los Animales shelter in Humacao, Puerto Rico, the team found Callie laying in the road, having been hit by a car. To entice her to be rescued and assess her injured state, they lured her with pizza before safely rushing her to the local vet clinic.
The team was very sure Callie would need to be humanely euthanized because she was in such bad shape. They cried when they dropped her off assuming the worst.
When the vet called the next day, they were told that Callie had perked up a bit and they were going to try to save her. Shortly after her medical treatments, Callie was trying to stand — a complete miracle!
As many of you know, El Faro is suffering through financial hardships with rising costs, a shelter completely full with 122 satos and gatos, and no room to take in any more until they get adopted through us, other organizations, or locally. It's hard to make ends meet and the staff has even taken pay cuts to ensure the animals in their care are fed and healthy.
Now El Faro has Callie with medical bills that could total in the thousands of dollars once there is a better understanding of her physical state, care and surgery needs, and road to recovery.
Please help us do everything we can to ensure Callie stays in good health and gets the ongoing medical attention she needs to become whole again.
And that the empathetic and caring team at El Faro can continue doing what they do best — saving lives of deserving satos and gatos.
Thanks for helping make a difference in Callie's life and our mission!
